The King: Eternal Monarch Storyline

Emperor Lee Gon rules the Kingdom of Corea, still haunted by witnessing his father’s assassination when he was just eight years old. When his traitorous uncle Lee Lim escapes through a portal to a parallel universe using a mystical flute called the Manpasikjeok, Lee Gon discovers he can travel between worlds. In the alternate Republic of Korea, he meets Jeong Tae-eul, a tough homicide detective who initially thinks he’s delusional. As Lee Gon tries convincing her of parallel worlds while hunting his murderous uncle across dimensions, the two form an unlikely partnership. The King: Eternal Monarch Review

“The King: Eternal Monarch” is visually spectacular with gorgeous cinematography and strong performances, especially Woo Do-hwan’s brilliant dual roles. The complex parallel universe storyline fascinates viewers willing to pay attention, though some find the pacing slow initially. Despite occasional confusion and blatant product placements, the ambitious narrative and satisfying ending make it worthwhile for fantasy romance fans.
