Batla House Movie Storyline

Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police, has been notified that his team has trapped five university students in L-18, Batla House, who may have been engaged in the 13 September 2008 Delhi explosions, for which the terrorist organisation “Indian Mujahideen” claimed responsibility (IM). Sanjeev gives the order not to engage in combat until he comes, but an obstinate inspector, Mohan Chand Sharma aka M.C., goes ahead with certain officers. Sanjeev comes and chooses to participate after hearing gunfire. The building has been cleaned, and M.C. has been discovered shot down. When Sanjeev enters the room, additional gunfire ensues, resulting in the deaths of two pupils, Adil Ameen and Sadiq, and the arrest of Tufail. Dilshad and Javed flee, and Sanjeev finds himself in hot water with the media and lawmakers, who accuse him of staging the encounter. The whole country joins them in criticising the Delhi Police, and everyone begins to seek justice for the students who were allegedly slain in connection with the explosions. Sanjeev’s wife, Shobhna Yadav, a news anchor, is unconvinced and chooses to remain with him. Sanjeev is quickly diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and has recurrent hallucinations of being shot by terrorists. Shobhna intervenes anytime he is on the verge of committing suicide.

Batla House Movie Review

Batla House strives to balance out the tale without adopting any obvious sides. With the narrative of an honest ACP at its core, it manages to cram in just the perfect amount of nationalism. The film is paced like a thriller, and it keeps loyal to the genre for the most part. Batla House is a tense picture that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time, leaving you with knots in your stomach. The superbly planned action and chase scenes will have you on the edge of your seat for many minutes. Batla House falters in the second half, when the pace of the proceedings slows even further due to the courtroom drama. Despite the fact that several clap-worthy phrases made it there. And some of the subtleties and intricacies are filtered out. Nora Fatehi’s dance performance feels out of place in an otherwise bleak storey, however her character is well-integrated.

But there’s no denying that this is John Abraham’s picture from start to finish; he’s excellent in the character of a dedicated ACP who is a man of few words, and possibly provides his greatest performance to date.
