• She was discovered by renowned filmmaker G. V. Iyer, who cast her in the Hindi television series Kadambari. She was scheduled to play Sita in a Ramayana film adaptation planned by G. V. Iyer, but the director died and the movie never materialised.
• However, because of her education, she had to reject some huge banners till Priyadarshan persuaded her to play the lead in his film.
• Madhuurima Banerjee is Banerjee’s full name. She changed her screen name to Nyra in 2016 to avoid confusion with her contemporary actress Madhurima Tuli.
• In 2010, she made her Telugu film debut. Within the next year, she appeared in three Telugu films, including the female lead part in Vamsy’s Saradaga Kasepu and a cameo appearance in Bhaskar’s Orange.
