Panga Movie Storyline
Jaya Nigam, a former Kabaddi champion and middle-class railway reservation counter worker, lives in Bhopal with her husband Prashant Sachdeva, a railway section engineer, and their 7-year-old son Aditya “Adi” Sachdeva. Despite Prashant and Adi’s encouragement, she laments having to give up the sport following Adi’s birth. Adi encourages her to return to the sport after hearing about her accomplishments from Prashant, despite the obstacles of physical fitness and the presence of younger, more experienced players, while her friend, former teammate, and Kabaddi instructor Meenal “Meenu” Singh assists her with the training. She initially struggles to cope with the pressures of a hectic job and the exercise routines that Adi’s enthusiasm pushes her through, but she eventually regains her composure and, with the help of Prashant and Adi, makes her comeback to the sport as a mother of a 7-year-old after her storey is rediscovered.

On March 7, 2019, the film’s director, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, unveiled the first look of the film, a still shot of the starring couple smiling while gazing at the sunset. Ranaut’s first look poster was unveiled on December 19, 2019. On January 24, 2020, the film was released in India. On its first day at the domestic box office, Panga barely made 2.70 crore. Ashwini Iyer Tiwari conjures an universe set in Bhopal’s back alleys, dripping with small-town atmosphere – a concept that has perhaps become a weary template in Hindi cinema. However, it is filled with a revitalising vitality here. The characters are not caricatures, but rather genuine and tangible people. Each of these ladies, from Meenu, her closest friend and a kabbadi instructor, to Jaya’s mother and even her teammate Nisha, are well-developed characters who play an important role in the storey. Adi and Prashant feel the same way.
