Storyline
Set in rural Bengal during the pre-independence period, Anirudh Roy Choudhary, a 22-year-old attorney, returns from London to Tulsipur to abolish the conventions and cultural beliefs that restrict women from progressing. Saudamini “Mini” Bhaumik, a childhood friend, is poised to marry him. Bondita Das, a Bengali Hindu girl of 11 years old, lives with her widowed mother Sumati, maternal uncle Sundaram, aunt Devoleena, and cousin Sampoorna. Bondita would marry an old guy, whereas Sampoorna will marry Saurabh, Anirudh’s closest friend, according to Sundaram and Devoleena. Anirudh comes upon the wedding on the day of the wedding and instantly revolts against it.
