The film made its global debut on March 23 at the 22nd Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival. On July 29, 2021, it was released nationwide in Danish theatres for the first time. It wasn’t released in Japan until December 17 of the following year.

Model Meiko learns about her closest friend Tsugumi’s new love interest while riding in a cab back from a photo session. Meiko drives the cab back to an office after Tsugumi is let off, where she meets her ex-boyfriend, Kazuaki, whom she believes is the same guy Tsugumi was speaking about. She tells her about things Tsugumi told her, such as Kazuaki’s inability to get over his ex-girlfriend. He embraces her after they argue, and Meiko flees.
Tsugumi invites Kazuaki inside as Meiko and Tsugumi are at a café, and Tsugumi insists that Meiko remain to offer her opinion on him. Meiko analyses the consequences of revealing their relationship and forcing Kazuaki to choose between them, culminating in Kazuaki following after Tsugumi. Kazuaki intends to take Tsugumi somewhere after the coffee, so she excuses herself.
A student interrupts a teacher’s lecture by begging and bowing him just before a teacher, pleading with him not to fail him since it would jeopardise his career as a news anchor. Professor Segawa, a French teacher, only answers in a dismissive manner.

The Berlin International Film Festival announced on February 11, 2021 that the film has been chosen for its global debut in the 71st festival’s Competition. The film did not have its global public premiere in Berlin because to the amount of infection, but instead was screened online and in theatres in four other locations across the globe from March 1–5, 2021, to buyers, the press, and festival juries. It was also chosen for the 26th Busan International Film Festival’s Gala Presentation segment, where it will be shown on October 7, 2021.

When it comes to intensity, DP is a master. Yukiko’s video videography captures the tales in clear, subtle detail while keeping only enough separation from the people to make them seem unfathomable. As simple as each of these loose drawings may be, Himayatsagar organises just the proper amount of tension as they emerge, much like a Haruki short tale or an intriguing stand-alone comic. The filmmaker obviously wants to keep these exchanges mysterious, so their brevity allows us to fill in the gaps before, after, and in the moments when his characters hold back whichever secret urge would completely change the scene.
Hamaguchi demonstrates how each scenario is salvaged, or at the very least changed, by a supernatural. In the first, Meiko possesses the magical ability to halt and rewind time in order to change the outcome of an event or conversation. In the next, Nao is immensely impressed by Segawa’s dignified thinking, which confuses her amorous plans for him. He requests that his office door be left open during their meeting to avoid any suspicion of corruption, and this is also symbolic of his own generosity. In the fourth, Clip and Nani employ role-playing to relieve their psychological agony.
